Porous Pavement

Porous pavement XL is a hard material made from 50% recycled tires, 50% stone aggregate and moisture cured urethane binding agent. Commonly used in pathways, driveways, parking lots, patios, sidewalks and other areas used for walking or light vehicle traffic. Thickness of install will vary for 1.25’’ to 2’’ thick depending on the application.

Porous Pavement XLS is a softer material made from 100% recycled tires and a softer more flexible urethane binding agent. Commonly used in pool environments and play areas where an impact absorbing surface is desired. Not for use in areas where wheeled vehicle traffic occurs. Thickness of install will vary from 1’’ to 2’’ depending on application.

Key Features

One of porous pave’s biggest features is its ability to increase ground infiltration for your site while still providing a strong durable surface. By increasing the ground infiltration the following is achieved:

  • Less run-off resulting in minimal and in some cases no sub-surface plumbing or catch basins greatly reducing costs.
  • Retention ponds may be reduced in size due to a more natural infiltration process creating more usable land for building, parking, etc.
  • Erosion and channeling of water is reduced around perimeter of sites not using storm sewers or retention ponds, decreasing the chance for erosion or other damage.
  • The non-skid properties of porous pave combined with its water storage capacity makes it safer than most other products in similar applications for walkways and parking areas.
  • Porous pave diminishes water runoff by utilizing a more natural infiltration process, this reduces loads on downstream systems along with reducing loads on the local system
  • Porous pave eliminates puddles in low areas, preventing ponding on walkways and other surfaces.

Environmentally friendly

  • Porous pave is made from recycled tires. The shredding process removes all steel fragments and produces approximately 1/4’’- 3/8’’ “rubber chips”. The use of porous pavement keeps thousands of tires from going to the landfill. For example, 300 scrap tires are used to create 1,000 square feet of 2” porous pavement.
  • Porous pave is mixed on-site and can be applied with little or no damage to existing landscapes.

Flexible

  • Resists cracking and heaving commonly found on concrete sidewalks. Reduces the chances of slips and fall accidents.
  • 50% rubber content allow product to move if sub-base moves.

Frost and Freeze Resistant

  • Porous Pave’s flexible nature withstands cracking or heaving due to ground movement or frost
  • It can be applied in temperatures between 40° - 90° F and generally cures in 24 hours, this is a much wider temp range and faster cure time than similar engineered surfaces.

Strong and Durable

  • At only 2” thick, porous pave can handle low speed car and truck traffic
  • Use at 1.5” thick for bike paths, patios, trails, golf cart paths or any other foot and pedestrian traffic
  • Porous pave is resistant to oil, chlorine, ozone, ultraviolet rays, muratic acid, transmission fluid, gasoline, diesel, hydraulic fluid, salt water and many other hostile materials.
